It's Time to Ride With Pride

It's easier than ever to show your Panther spirit with our Indiana specialty license plate! Indiana residents can now handle the entire specialty plate request or renewal process directly through the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

Whether you need to purchase a new Hanover College specialty license plate or renew your current one, you can go online to www.IN.gov/bmv or to a license branch to handle the transaction. The cost of the Hanover College plate includes a $25 tax-deductible contribution that will directly benefit the College. We are honored to donate the profits from the license plate program to the Impact Hanover Fund. Your gift will also qualify you to become a member of  The Samuel Moffett Giving Society.

Standard or customized license plate

You can select a standard specialty plate or have a fun, personalized plate by choosing a unique combination of numbers and letters up to six digits, including spaces. Low plate numbers (100 and under) require an additional form from  Hanover College Office of Alumni Relations to be submitted at the time of purchase.

How can I get a plate with the new Hanover College Logo?

The BMV rolled out the new design on Oct. 21. As a reminder, all Hanover College plates are issued a new metal plate every seven registration years. Year one of a plating cycle is ANY registration year in which a metal plate is issued, including anytime a duplicate/replacement plate, is issued. After seven registration years have passed since the last issuance of a metal plate, a new metal plate is issued. Duplicates will have to be purchased by those alumni and friends if they wish to obtain the new design after Oct. 21, 2020. Current alumni and friends that have a current Hanover College plate and would like to request the new logo metal plate for $9.50 must-visit an Indiana BMV branch to request a duplicate/replacement license plate or mail in the Application for Replacement or Duplicate License Plate with a check or money order for $9.50.

Low plate number

Effective Jan. 19, 2019, the Low Digit Assignment for a Distinctive License Plate - State Form 54845 will no longer be required in the first year of each plate assignment schedule when the same plate number is being renewed. The change will allow low-digit registrations to be renewed online through their myBMV account, and they will no longer be forced into a license branch or to renew by mail every seven years. Low digit plate numbers may continue to be reassigned to someone else as long as the person who currently has or previously had the number registered either (1) no longer has the plate actively registered, or (2) agrees to register with a different license plate number. The low digit assignment form is still required for all new issuances of a low digit (1 - 100) plate number, including any low digit number changes (e.g., changing from 10 to 20). Please contact the  Office of Alumni Relations to obtain a low plate number registration form, order your plate online, or visit your local license branch.

Want Tax Credit?

To receive a tax credit and receive an acknowledgment from Hanover College for the $25 donation, you MUST check the box that authorizes the BMV to share your name with us. This is done at the time of your plate purchase. Without checking the box, your donation comes to the College as an anonymous gift.

Feel free to contact the Office of Alumni Relations at alumni@hanover.edu.
