Students, are you looking for that one person that you can connect with and get advice from?  Are you looking for someone who has been through what you are going through?  Then the Formal COACH Mentoring Program is for you!  This 1:1 program is currently available for all sophomores who are feeling the slump or who just need guidance. Through mentorship, alumni mentors will be able to relate to their mentees about uncertain times, share how they navigate through challenges, and lend helpful information on a variety of topics.  The opportunity for a mentor who is not a parent, relative, or peer gives room for “real talk.”

Why sophomore students?  The first year of college for any student is spent trying to explore their options and getting engaged on campus.  The Junior year is learning to grow and develop their interests and the senior year is when students start preparing for their future.  But, what about their sophomore year?

College isn't 'new' anymore and the pressure and uncertainty to make decisions start to increase.  Sophomores are aware that the 'halfway mark' of their college career is approaching and are starting to contemplate, "What should I choose as my major? "What can I do with "x" major?"  "How are alumni using their degree in their professions?"

Students have a lot of interests, and they look for mentorship opportunities rather than requirements.  An alumni mentorship can encourage motivation and can be the initial bridge between Hanover College and life after Hanover College.  The formal program can grow into so much more for the mentee and mentor....it can be a lifelong connection.
