Events and Social Gatherings

Due to COVID-19, all on-campus events are canceled through June.  Currently, the Office of Alumni Relations will be implementing engagement opportunities for all alumni and friends of the College.  If you have any suggestions, please send an email to alumni@hanover.edu.  In the meantime, please feel free to join in any of the following activities.

ongoing events

  • Virtual Book Club - Hanover College’s Office of Alumni Relations is partnering with the Duggan Library to host a virtual book club for our alumni and friends.  We will begin reading our first book, The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead, on May 18, 2020.  Membership is free.  You just need to purchase or borrow a copy of the book. We recommend eBooks during this time of social distancing. The book club will take place on a discussion board between May 18 through June 18.  Register to participate at https://our.hanover.edu/virtualbookclub.

JUNE EVENTS

Monday, June 1
The Kick-Off to 'Nailed It Pantry Challenge' with Rev. Catherine Knott
https://our.hanover.edu/nailedit
Join us each Monday in June for a weekly "pantry cooking challenge".  Our goal is to get parents, students, faculty, and staff motivated to participate/donate, while also raising awareness of food scarcity/food waste/environmental stewardship.

What's the Challenge?  Each week a College special guest will post their cooking challenge.  Then, on June 22, our final guest chef will challenge all alumni to get creative and post their pantry challenge dish for voting between June 22 and June 29 (photo submission TBD).  Whoever has the most votes by July 6 will receive a $100 Kroger gift card.

Did you know that Hanover College has a food pantry that is supported by the Panther Emergency Assistance Fund?  This supports students in lieu of traditional dining options that are not available over the summer or during breaks.  Your support will make an impact on students who stay on campus over the summer, as well as those who come back early, such as student teachers.
