Dear Esteemed Alumni Mentors and Current Students,

Thank you for signing up to be a member of the COACH Mentoring Program! Whether you are an alumnus or a current student, know that you have chosen to embark on an exciting year of mentorship. This letter has the following steps and some information for you to consider as you begin.

As a participant in the COACH Mentoring Program, you agree to abide by the Hanover College Mission & Vision. Below are the next steps for you as you begin your mentorship.

  1. As part of the COACH Mentoring Program, you are committing to connecting with your mentee at least once a month until June 2023.
  2. If you have not done so already, connect with your mentee/mentor to schedule an hour to meet. Check your email.
  3. To help you prepare topics for your first conversation, please review the Mentorship Agreement. You can use this as a framework to discuss how you would like to move forward. We ask the mentee and mentor to come up with three "ice breaker" questions.
  4. As you connect with your mentee/mentor, this is a critical time to determine if you are indeed a good fit. Be honest in your availability and expertise; if there is no alignment, be honest with what you can provide. If it doesn't match, you can discontinue the mentorship by emailing the COACH Mentoring Staff. However, if you feel there is something to grow on, open yourself up to the opportunity to grow with your student.
  5. Take a moment to watch the COACH Mentoring Orientation Video (coming soon) and complete the Confidentiality Form.
  6. Join the XXX for resources and insights from other mentees and mentors.

While this is just the beginning of a long-term endeavor, there will be situations where the mentorship feels stagnated. Do not hesitate to contact our staff if you need assistance reaching your student mentee or alum mentor or working through an obstacle. We will be sending out monthly e-newsletters with resources and mentorship ideas. We encourage you to be honest if things aren't going as you thought and to find a compromise as you move forward. If your mentorship is not a fit, you can cancel the mentorship by emailing the COACH Mentoring Staff and requesting to work with a different student or alumni mentor. Feel free to reach out to our team at coachmentoring@hanover.edu.

Thank you again for your willingness to participate in the COACH Mentoring Program. The insights you gain will make an indelible impact.

Go  Panthers!
